    IE8 and Web Standards

Microsoft recently announced their plan of attack for IE8 with regards to both forward and backward compatibility. Comments on the blog post announcing this approach run the gamut from supportive to violently opposed.

Where do you stand and what are your thoughts? I'm currently mostly in favor of this approach. (Actually, I'm all in favor - I just wish we didn't need such a solution, and I'm also leery that it MIGHT become a repeat of the DOCTYPE 'fix' that went nowhere... )

But sound off and let everyone know what you think.
